Shri Krishna Janmashtami, an annual Hindu festival, celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It is observed on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Shravana, according to the lunar Hindu calendar. Lord Krishna, who lived on this earth to guide humanity on the path of morality, righteousness, love, and knowledge, is revered by many names, each holding its own significance, such as Giridhara, Shyamasundara, Madhava, Murari, Navaneeta Chora, Gopala, Muralimanohara, and Mukunda, among others.
On Thursday, 24th August 2024, Amrita Vidyalayam celebrated Shri Krishna Janmashtami with great splendor. The primary objective was to help children understand the importance of Janmashtami and the various names of Lord Krishna, along with their meanings.
The celebration was vibrant, adorned with colourful flowers and painted pots. It began with an auspicious pooja dedicated to the sacred Bal Gopal. Teachers of the kindergarten section lit the ceremonial lamp, marking a positive start to the festivities. Students, dressed as little Krishnas, Radhas, and Gopikas, transformed the celebration area into a mini Brindavan.
The event included dances, and video clips that illustrated the different names of Sri Krishna and their significance. Ninety students participated in the program, making it a joyful, colorful, and informative celebration that fostered a sense of unity among the kindergarteners.
