Onam commemorates a legacy of equality, unity, and prosperity, reminding us of a time when there was no inequality and the welfare of the people was paramount. It encourages us to celebrate our differences while fostering unity. To honour the spirit of Onam, the students of Amrita Vidyalayam Bhubaneswar celebrated the festival on 14th September 2024, promoting unity and equality within the student community.
The festivities began with the creation of a grand flower carpet (Pookkalam) in the courtyard, crafted by the students. The celebration featured a variety of traditional competitions, including tug of war, flower carpet making, spoon races, ball passing, and even a bitter gourd eating contest. The day concluded with a vibrant cultural event on campus, leaving everyone with cherished memories of Onam’s joy and togetherness.
