The Rath Yatra celebration at Amrita Vidyalayam on July 6, 2024 was a vibrant and spiritually enriching event. This festival marks the annual journey of Lord Jagannath, along with his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra, in a decorated chariot and was celebrated with much enthusiasm and devotion.
Preparations for the Rath Yatra began weeks in advance, with students and teachers collaboratively working on decorating the chariot. The art and craft department played a significant role in creating beautiful decorations, while the music department prepared devotional songs.
The event started with an opening ceremony in the school prayer hall. Teachers addressed the gathering, explaining the significance of the Rath Yatra. Following this, the beautifully decorated chariot was brought to the school ground.
The procession commenced with Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra, accompanied by students, teachers, and staff, all singing hymns and dancing to the rhythmic beats of traditional drums. The school choir performed devotional songs.
The celebration concluded with the distribution of prasad to all attendees. This not only added to the festive spirit, but also fostered a sense of community and sharing among students and staff.
The Rath Yatra celebration at our school was a grand success. It was an opportunity for students to learn about and appreciate cultural and religious traditions and to participate actively in a communal celebration. The event strengthened the bonds among students, teachers, and the larger school community, leaving everyone with cherished memories and a deeper understanding of this significant festival.
