Vana Mohotsav Week Valedictory Ceremony at Amrita Bhubaneswar

With an aim to rekindle the love for nature among students, Amrita Vidyalayam, Bhubaneswar celebrated the 73rd Vana Mohotsav Week with many educative and entertaining programmes in collaboration with the Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department, Govt. of Odisha, as a part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

The valedictory ceremony of the week-long celebration commenced with the lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest Mr. Ajit Satapathy, D.F.O., Bhubaneswar, and School Principal Mrs Mousumi Patnaik. Mrs. Rasmibala Parida, B.E.O., Mr. Anant Kumar Pradhan, A.C.F., and Mr. Bijay Kumar Parida, A.C.F of Bhubaneswar City were also present on the occasion. Following the devotional prayer, Mrs Sasmita Das delivered the welcome address highlighting the importance of the environment and trees.

Various cultural events such as group dance and songs were presented to appreciate the vital role of the environment in our lives and finding ways to protect it. The Chief Guest gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions like poster designing, Bhagwat Gita Chanting, etc. He called trees man’s best friend, and said that this best resource must be protected respectfully. The School Principal inspired the students to plant trees today in order to keep their tomorrow safe. After the Shanti Mantra and the vote of thanks proposed by Ms Vedamati, the real action began as the students accompanied by the forest department officials, the Principal and staff initiated the plantation drive with a target of growing 8000 trees this year. This definitely brought out a new zest among the participants to explore the rich colour of nature.
