A team of 27 students and 4 teachers along with our Principal visited Sarala Niketan, an orphanage run by an ashram at Samantarapur, Odisha. The ashram is part of Sri Ramakrishna Mission.
Before our visit, some of our teachers had gone to the orphanage. They found out that the children of the orphanage were from Gajapati district. The Swami who is the head of the ashram started the orphanage in 1981 in order to bring them to Bhubaneswar to give them proper education, as they were not safe in their hometown and were diverted towards Maoism.
We donated 25 kg of raw rice, 30 kg of parboiled rice, 15 kg of chuda and 5 kg of Suji which our children had brought as part of their weekly collections. Mrs. Madhuchanda Parida spoke about Amma to the children. Our students were very happy that they were able to participate in this, and they made a decision to become more disciplined.
